How to Revise

Revision Tracker

It makes sense to do a small chunk of revision for each subject per week.  If you've got 10 subjects, identify 10 revision slots in your week. For example, you could study 2 subjects each evening, Monday to Friday. Students will be given a copy of the tracker below.  To download a copy, click on the link at the bottom of this page.

Coping with pressure during exams

Stress can be good sometimes, it can help you to work harder and focus. But it can also have a big effect on you and make it hard to cope. Stress might affect you if you’re:

  • struggling to sleep
  • having negative thoughts about the future
  • getting headaches or feeling unwell a lot
  • not eating because of how you’re feeling
  • always thinking about your exams or worrying about them
  • not able to enjoy things anymore.

Think positively

When we feel anxious, we can start thinking things like ‘I can’t do this’ and ‘I’m going to fail’. It can be difficult, but try to replace these with positive thoughts such as: ‘this is just anxiety, it can’t harm me’ and, ‘relax, concentrate - it's going to be okay’.

French

GCSE Past Papers and Revision Classroom Code vyn54u2

We advise that you revise both the WHAT and the HOW for success in French.

The WHAT is the vocab and grammar.

The HOW is past paper practice.

  1. For speaking revision please ensure you learn thoroughly your answers to the role play and photocards which we will have prepared in class.
  2. For reading and listening revision, the past papers Google Classroom will help you to revise and develop your skills - ensure you write down new vocabulary. You also have reading and listening booklets to practice exam style questions.
  3. For writing revision, please refer to your writing booklets for advice and examples and check your grammar knowledge.
  4. All of this should be underpinned by additional resources on Memrise or Quizlet for vocabulary and on Seneca for grammar and further exam practice

Geography

MOCK EXAM WEEK 2026:

15th and 22nd June

The exam will cover the topics we have studied in Year 10 including:

Rivers

Living World (Ecosystems, rainforests and Deserts)

Urban Issues

Coasts

Skills: maps and graphs

Revision Advice:

Unfortunately there is a lot of content to remember at GCSE so starting revision early using a timetable will be very helpful.

You only remember 10% of what you read so doing and self testing is the way to help you remember things.

  1. Start by trying to complete the mind maps below from memory. Then use your exercise books and your revision guide to fill in the gaps.

4. Ecosystems Revision Outline.pdf

5. Deserts Revision Outline.pdf

1. Urban_Challenges Revision Outline.pdf

6. Rivers Revision Outline 1.pdf

  1. If you learn better using video clips the following sites on Youtube have lots of short videos for each section of the GCSE AQA syllabus. Choose those you feel least confident about.

  1. Use Seneca regularly. Download onto your phone. Instead of scrolling – do 10 mins a day on a different topic. This will help you recall basic info

  2. Make some revision cards / case study summaries. 5  key questions on one side, 5-8 key facts on the back. Test yourself regularly: Look / cover / remember and you can use them in Year 11!

  3. Do the practise questions in your revision guide and in your case study booklet.

  4. Complete practise questions. There are lots (and mark schemes) available here:
