Renaissance (Oxbridge, Medicine and Russell Group)

Working together with our wider colleagues (incl. New College Oxford, Balliol, Caius and the Norfolk Higher Aspirations Scheme), we also run a series of many in-house sessions and bespoke support for students choosing to apply for Oxbridge, Medicine, or Russell Group universities. Led by our experts, Mr Bishop (Oxbridge, Medicine, Law), and Mr Sharpe (Maths, Sciences and Oxbridge Outreach), we have a combined 18 years of experience helping students succeed in these areas:

We also support USA and Conservatoire applications when students have that ambition, with years of success in all these areas.

At time of writing (June 2025) we can confirm that our most recent UCAS cohort of students has gained:

  • 13 offers in total for Medicine, Vet and Dentistry
  • 6 offers for Oxbridge (including Engineering, Maths, Biology, History)
  • 1 offer for USA at Penn (Ivy League)

Ethos

The "Renaissance Project" has been running very successfully for over a decade. There is no pressure to follow any route – we just help students with the ambitions they have, however high they may be. We offer a range of activities, contacts with ex-students, support and skills, so students have the best chance of accessing future destinations. Wider recent successes have included 2 USA sports scholarships, 2 Ivy League Universities and 2 Music Conservatoire places, alongside our usual successes in the more famous "competitive" courses.

Long-Term Statistics

Oxbridge

- an average of 5 successful Oxbridge students per year over the last 10 years, across 17 subjects from Maths to Art History, including Oxbridge Medicine and PPE.

Medicine and Law

- an average of 6 Medicine students per year over the last 10 years, including students taking Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry. Law successes for Russell unis are 8+ most years. For Oxbridge, this time span has also included an Oxbridge Medic and 4 Oxbridge lawyers.

What We Do – (the top 6 things)

  • personalised expert support tailored to the needs of Oxbridge, Medicine and Law applicants. In the early stages, this may include help in choosing courses or future paths that most appeal to the student. For some, slight changes of plan over the 2 years are common and healthy!
  • contact with previous high-achieving ex-NDHS/current-Oxbridge students in a wide range of subjects, and contact with professional legal, medical and Oxbridge outreach staff where relevant
  • personalised tutor statement writing, and extensive 1-1 personal statement support
  • skilled and personalised interview support (NDHS has also hosted Oxbridge Interview training for Norfolk teachers) - shy-to-confident speakers a speciality!
  • dedicated staff member to add in-house specialist maths and science interview & application support.
  • student societies - Debating Club, Medicine Society, Literary Book Club… if you have another passion, feel free start your own (it’s more impressive when you do!)
