Irish Dance

One of our more hectic workshops was Irish Dance.  The idea for this session blossomed from one of our lunchtime clubs where a group of young ladies felt confident enough to put on a show for an invited audience.  CAFOD were happy to back us and the girls thoroughly enjoyed their few days hopping, jigging and dancing. The workshop was led by Mary Nobes and supported by Mr Malley (CAFOD Regional Manager).  As well as the dance, we also took time out to create our little costumes and had a fun afternoon in the art rooms looking at Celtic symbols and design before using the glittery fabric pens to create patterns on sashes and skirt fronts.  The girls then decorated their plain black tee-shirts before choosing their own hand-made colourful wire tiaras that completed the look!  … I think they looked splendid and performed so well at the show.  Well done ladies.

p.s… The girls were so good, we were invited to another school to perform and share our dancing knowledge with little children in the school as part of their International Week event.
