Ethos Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance at Notre Dame aims to act in a generous orthodoxy. We must never rest on our laurels. Middle and Senior Leaders at Notre Dame are responsible for the continual drive to improve. In order for this to happen we must know our school. We must walk the corridors, talk to staff, talk to students. Our role is to seek out, celebrate and spread great practice.

We must also never be afraid to challenge and support where necessary. A start point for this is to ask ourselves, do we want to know how we can become better? If every member of staff at Notre Dame can honestly answer ‘yes’, we will sustain a culture of excellence. We must move away from thinking about ‘what works?’ to ‘What works best?’. We must practice self-efficacy.

Our ethos is underpinned by the Catholic Social Teaching values of Human Dignity, the Common Good, Solidarity, and Subsidiarity. Leaders at Notre Dame take responsibility for the development of their staff. Leaders are the drivers of collegiate learning and improvement. In order for this collegiality to be sustained and nurtured, Leaders should ‘guide staff not judge them’ (Allison and Tharby 2015).

He restores my soul. He guides me along right paths – Psalm 23:3
