Drama builds and develops a students' ability to use a large range of drama conventions in order ot explore topics, issues and play-texts in a creative and skilled manner.  The Drama course is intellectually challenging, as to work at a high level, students need to be able to demonstrate a sophisticated ability to analyse and evaluate practical work of their own, of their peers and of professional companies.  The course also aims to develop confidence in each student as well as the ability to communicate effectively, using verbal and non-verbal skills, both within practical drama and inter-personally when working in a group.

The subject is taught in mixed ability groups.  Lessons are mostly pratical and students work in pairs, in groups and as a whole class.  Much of the drama focuses on topics and themes, some of which are suggested by the students themselves, as well as the exploration of scripted drama.
