Subjects
All students at Notre Dame follow a core curriculum throughout the lower school. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which enables students to study core Mathematics, English and Science as well as a Modern Foreign Language and Religious Education. In addition, students will do PE, Technology and Computer Science as well as having the opportunity to study Music, Drama and Art. All students in lower school do PSHE.
Students specify their GCSE preferences during Year 9 resulting in changes to which subjects they study from the start of Year 10. The blocking is designed in order to maximise the opportunity for students to take a range of options that will give them a rich and balanced learning experience.

The Sixth Form Curriculum
Sixth Form students at Notre Dame follow a programme of study which reflects their prior attainment which consists of a 3 or 4 A level package. In addition to the subjects they complete a study programme that includes form time with a tutor who will play a role in preparing each student for their next progression. Supporting this process are a wide range of additional activities such as UCAS days, work experience, visits to industry offered through subjects, enrichment and the Sixth Form Studies Programme; which is offered in addition to the core A level curriculum.
Students are encouraged to work independently and additional study periods are identified on their timetable to support them in doing so. Sixth Form study is seen as a progression bridge from GCSE to Higher Education and therefore staff will often guide students as to how to make independent study work for them.
