Initial Teacher Training
Click to the left to find out about the various different routes into teaching that we support at Notre Dame. We have a huge amount of experience in working with partners including the UEA, Norfolk and Suffolk LAs, the Open University and other providers of Initial Teacher Training.
These useful links provide further information on training routes/teacher resources and local supporting universities of teacher training.
The new School Direct routes allow schools to be at the heart of the teacher training process. There are two versions of the programme, Schools Direct (PGCE) and Schools Direct (Salaried). In both cases, schools request training places, recruit trainees and form a partnership with a training provider such as the Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teaching Training Programme and the University of East Anglia. The school and training provider determine the pattern of training and agree responsibilities.
School Direct (Salaried) Trainees are employed as an unqualified teacher during training and receive a salary.
Schools Direct (Tuition) The trainee must pay a course fee, but can receive a bursary depending on subject and degree classification.
