Physical Education

Whilst studying PE you will learn about keeping healthy & fit as well as the systems within the body that are developed when exercising.

At the end of each year we hold a Sports Day.  All students in Yrs 7-10 are encouraged to participate to support their House.

Where does this subject lead me?

KS4 PE

In Years 10-11 all students take PE.  There are two available pathways GCSE or non-examined.  GCSE PE is an opportunity for those that are sport minded, and are playing regular sport, to extend their knowledge and gain an extra GCSE. The beauty of studying it is that you are assessed in activities you would be taking part in anyway. There are also a number of elements in the GCSE PE course that are also covered in Biology, so you will find you get taught some similar content in both subjects – excellent reinforcement!  For more info visit our KS4 Physical Education page.

Career Pathways

PE is a great subject to study if you want a career in a sports related field.

This could be anything from a sports coach to a physiotherapist to a personal trainer.

Science subjects fit well with PE, particularly if you are interested in studying sports science or psychology in the future.

The subject also provides an overview of the socioeconomic factors affecting sport as well as sports psychology.

You can watch a great series of videos of young people who are working in jobs that use PE on the BBC Bitesize website.
