Year 12 visit the Lake District

Thirty Year 12 geographers took part in a very successful trip to Blencathra Field Study Centre from 10th until the 12th July.  The primary focus was to develop a range of skills and techniques in order to prepare students for their independent investigations which will be completed over the summer holiday.

Arriving on  Monday, we spent the afternoon in Keswick before heading back to the field study centre for an evening tutorial.  Tuesday was spent trekking through Easedale before taking in the site of Easdale Tarn as reward for the climb through the valley.  There was a range of breathtaking glaciated landscapes to appreciate on the way.

Finally, on Wednesday, we spent the morning in Grasmere looking at some more precipitation based geographical approaches before heading South and back to Notre Dame.

All in all, a very succesful trip and the students did themselves and the school very proud.
