Students from our VI form Spanish classes have been enjoying their exchange with the Colegio Helicon in Valdemoro and have returned to school full of enthusiasm after their week abroad. This has been the eighth year that we have been running an exchange with this particular school and we are already looking forward to playing host to the Spanish students at the end of Summer term when they visit us here in Norwich.
Previous experience has taught us that VI form students benefit not only from the insight into Spanish life and culture but also from being immersed in target language situations.
The exchange began with our students shadowing their exchange partners in lessons and taking part in school-based activities. As well as our students spending time with their new Spanish friends in their school and at the weekend in their own homes, excursions were also part of the visit and the trips and outings were scheduled to include historical and cultural interests. These included a day trip by coach to El Escorial and Valle de los Caidos; a trip to Madrid, a walk through Retiro Park, visit to Sol, Reina Sofia Museum, Atocha monument, a visit to Toledo (the former capital) and visit to the cathedral there.
We look forward to viewing the images in the gallery – coming soon
