    Technical Competition Winners

Congratulations to our budding technical team of students who won the trophy for the best team in the Advanced category at the Technology Tournament 2017.

The annual event, which is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Norwich, Norwich & St Edmund and Reepham & District, highlighted the amazing design, scientific and technical knowledge of students from 10 participating schools.  Each School was invited to nominate teams of students interested in engineering, technology and science for 3 different levels of competition, Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced.   Each team competed in the one-day event to devise and build a solution to an unseen technical task.

The tournament consisted of planning and design, practical solutions, and final testing.  The team of 10 judges (professional engineers, tutors and technicians from various walks of life), took time to assess the teams and their work before finally deciding on 3 overall winners.

We are proud to announce that our team of talented youngsters took the Trophy for the Advanced Level Tournament.  They were presented with their award in front of an array of dignitaries including, the Right Worshipful Mayor of Norwich, The Sheriff of Norwich, the Sheriff’s Consort, 3 Presidents from various Rotary Clubs, a Youth Opportunities Officer and Civic Attendant.

The Rotary Club would like to thank all those who participated in the tournament, the schools involved, the judges, the host school, Matt Bilverstone - who was closely involved with the organisation of the event from the early stages and of course the supporters and promoters of the tournament:- The John Jarrold Trust, Norwich Engineering Society, the inventor Terry Weston, KLM Engineering, Rotary District 1080, CAM Architects, Catton Print and John Tym Photography & Framing.
