Wesley Matsuka-Williams, Joining Pennsylvania State University

At noon on Wednesday 15th November year 13 student Wesley Matsuka-Williams formally signed his contract of admission into Pennsylvania State University, commencing in Autumn 2018. Wesley has successfully gained an offer of a 'full-ride' sports scholarship for his triple jumping talents, and has the potential to gain additional academic funding on top!

Wesley has worked tirelessly over the last eighteen months to whittle down his abundant options and offers, visiting many campuses and meeting coaches and fellow athletes before visiting Penn State late October, after which he verbally agreed terms.

Wesley is the fourth student in three years we have successfully sent to Universities in the USA on full-scholarships, and is the product of hours of input and support from his family, Denis Costello, Norwich AC coach, Jonathan Ilori, and Sarah Abrams both of Right Track sports consultancy, and of course the staff at Notre Dame.

On the exciting news, Head of School Neil Cully said:

“We are very proud and delighted that Wesley has been offered this prestigious scholarship at Pennsylvania State University.  He thoroughly deserves this success.  He is an outstanding student, and gifted not only in terms of his sporting abilities, but also academically.  He is the fourth student from Notre Dame to go gain a place at an American university in three years. I would like to recognise my colleague, Mr Christopher Daniel, for the specialist tutoring support that has enabled Wesley to gain this place.”
